Sedation Options

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide is commonly know as “Laughing Gas” and it is a great way to provide relaxation during your procedure.  Nitrous Oxide is great for the mildly anxious patient.  Some health conditions may contraindicate the use of Nitrous Oxide.  Please inform Dr. Hill of all health conditions and medications.

Oral Conscious Sedation

You will be given a pill to take 1-2 hours before our appointment.  This will help to relax you during the procedure.  The most commonly used medications are Halcion and Valium.  Conscious sedation allows you to be comfortable, aware of your surroundings and capable of responding to Dr. Hill.  With oral conscious sedation you may become sleepy or tired, but it does not put you to sleep like IV/General Anesthsia.  The effects of oral sedation can last for several hours after the treatment.  You will be required to have an adult with you to drive you home.
